Cate of the Lost Colony

This historical fiction young adult novel tells the story of Cate, a maid for Queen Elizabeth who develops a romantic interest in Sir Walter Ralegh. Cate angers the Queen, who claims that Sir Walter is hers and hers alone, and is sent to the Tower for punishment. The smitten Ralegh convinces the Queen to sent Cate to America, where he secretly plans to join her. Cate's life is drastically changed as she establishes her new life in Roanoke. Will she survive long enough to see Sir Walter Ralegh again?
