Fablehaven, by Brandon Mull, is a wonderful new fantasy series for kids around Grade 5 and up. In it, a sister and brother are sent to stay with their grandparents in Connecticut while their parents are on vacation. While there, they discover that the grandparents are the caretakers of a sanctuary for magical and mythical creatures. I love this book because the brother and sister, naturally curious about the odd things that happen, stumble onto the truth of their grandparent's estate and discover the fabulous beings, both harmless and dangerous, that live there. There is one scene, where the grandfather has told the brother NOT to do something, (which he does anyway), where you just want to say "NOOOOO, don't do it!!!" The siblings courageously work together to put things right, and even help their grandfather to solve a mystery concerning the grandmother!
