The Happiness Hypothesis: Finding Modern Truth in Ancient Wisdom

The Happiness Hypothesis: Finding Modern Truth in Ancient Wisdom
By: Jonathan Haidt

Professor Haidt shares several personal struggles with the reader, against a background of ancient and modern ideas of how each of us can become the best person we can be. His engaging writing style helps you tackle several chapters at one sitting. I took notes to keep some of the “ancient wisdom” nearby as I personally examined my own journey. This book could be helpful to people who work with groups of people to understand some of the basic dynamics. The Happiness Hypothesis has 3 parts: examine how the human mind works; review our social lives, examining Reciprocity and Hypocrisy; and question the meaning – why some people make developmental progress, change, and live productive lives and why some people refuse to work to change and to be happy.
