Moon Over Manifest

Moon Over Manifest
By: Clare Vanderpool

A delightful first novel that takes place in Manifest, Kansas in 1936. A twelve-year-old girl is sent there by her father, to stay with his boyhood friend. The story is full of great, quirky characters and easily moves from past to present through letters from a WWI soldier and stories eloquently told by Miss Sadie. Abilene slowly learns about the mining town and the lives of its residents in 1918, as she tries to learn more about her Dad’s life. The details of the story weave expertly between past and present, and they are full of charm, heartbreak and surprises. I hated to see it end!
