The Walking Dead
By: Robert Kirkman
Whenever I finish reading a good book I often think, “That would make a great movie!” This time it worked the other way around for me. After watching the TV series “The Walking Dead”, I found to my delight that the library had a four-volume set of graphic novels which contain the comic book series this show was created from. I don’t normally read graphic novels, but the artwork in these was amazing! Although the subject was the usual “apocalyptic disaster turns people into Zombies” common to horror books and films, the characters in this saga were so lifelike that (should there be a future Zombie attack) you would definitely want to be among this group of survivors! The book differed from the TV series in that it was a little darker, a little bloodier and a little more disturbing – which is the way any good horror story should be; otherwise it really would be just a comic strip.
