Jacob Jankowski is about to take his last exam before officially becoming a veterinarian and starting his life. Right before the exam he gets some news that sends him, unpredictably, to meet up with a circus train. From there Jacob strikes a friendship with the circus workers, Rosie the elephant, and Marlena, who Jacob falls in love with instantly. The only thing in his way is August, the brutal head trainer. Mixing the present time with the glamorous and gritty time of the early 20th century, Water for Elephants is one of the best novels to come out in years! Make sure you read it before the movie comes out in the summer of 2011!
